My name is Elena Payán de Tejada and I am 22 years old. Although I am currently living in Venlo, I come from Spain. I did my bachelor’s in biotechnology in the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, with specialisation in health. I always knew that I wanted to focus my career in improving people’s health, but it was not until I took part in the Erasmus programme in Munich during my last year that I realised about the important role that food plays in our health. Therefore, I decided to move to Venlo and take on a new challenge by starting the master Health Food Innovation Management. What I really like of the program is the business-oriented aspect in combination with the PBL study system. This provides a good insight in the food industry and future opportunities in preventing health problems by developing healthy food products.
I am excited to be part of the board of ISA Umami 2018-2019. As secretary I am responsible for all the communication around ISA Umami, this includes responding to incoming mail, creating the monthly newsletter, updating the HFIM and ISA Umami social media (you can find us on Facebook, Instagram, and Linkedin), taking the boards minutes, assisting my fellow board members in their tasks, and most importantly, having fun! If you have any questions or remarks, please feel free to contact me.
